Usage notes
Gestures with the hand in the direction you will go:
- moving a quarter circle upwards and closer to yourself (thumb to chest): come/go here
- moving hand with a gesture outwards (forward), palm directed at conversation partner: visit him/her
- moving hand with a gesture outwards (left/right), palm directed at conversation partner: going somewhere
If the goal or location of arrival is unknown, the verb uelg is used instead.
Åos can also be used as a regular way of greeting: past participle of åos (wåosn) with the hand in front of oneself, palm facing conversation partner. This can rougly be translated as 'hello'. If the fingers are parallel without spaces, the greeting becomes more formal.
